About the Bots ArgMax's newsBot and dataBot are tools that automatically scan the Internet for various kinds of information. In the case of dataBot, the program scans press releases from various government sites and extracts relevant data and inserts them into a database to be accessed later. In the case of newsBot, the program scans various economic news and commentary webpages to extract the headlines and link to the article. You can also receive emails from dataBot notifying you of the latest data releases. Sign Up | Modify Preferences | Remove Both newsBot and dataBot are run whenever a user accesses certain pages on this site. dataBot is set to run no more frequently than once a day, and will only run after 10am. The time limit is to ensure that the bot is not run too early in the morning and hence before data is released for the day. newsBot is set to run no more frequently than once every four hours. This is done so as to improve overall performance and to limit incoming bandwidth usage.
